Top 6 Holiday style tips!

The holiday season is here with full blast....you have party invitations coming your way daily...business parties, friends parties and off course some family parties to make it real challenging for you. Between every day life, closing the year at work, gift shopping and planing your wardrobe for the season - this time of year that suppose to be joyful and fun can get very overwhelming....
How can i help?
How about sharing my top 6 Holiday style tips? would that be helpful???

1. LAYER IT UP -  Layering for a look is quite fun and gives you the chance to be creative and show some more of your personal style, but in this holiday season where you might find yourself going from work in the office to business meetings and holiday party and diner and who knows what else...layering your look will be useful, will give you the chance to adjust your look from work to party and will make sure you'll be comfortable through all your daily events. Not to mentioned the weather this season especially this year and how unpredictable it is. Therefore make more use of pieces like the vest, the cardigan, a light sweater, a scarf these are all items that you put on or take off easily throughout the day to easily change your look!
A vest from Express
Cardigan from J.Crew
2. STAY AWAY FROM HOLIDAY CLOTHES - Wearing a musical or a Santa Claus tie, snow man

My style journal - week thirteen - Sunday Brunch

This fall season is my kind of fall....nice weekend with temperature in the mid 50's and the sun is out! Perfect weather for layering which is what i was going for in here, i was on my way to brunch and just piled up few pieces together not knowing how cold or warm will it be outside and i think it all came together pretty well regardless of the mishmash of colors and textures and despite the strong bright color shoes....
Do you think so too???

Is Boardwalk Empire the next show to inspire men's fashion?

Boardwalk Empire is a new show from Terence Winter (The Sopranos) on HBO about a political figure - Enoch "Nucky" Thompson, who rose to prominence and controlled Atlantic City, New Jersey during the Prohibition period of the 1920s and 1930s and his expensive and lavish lifestyle.
I actually haven't followed the show as much but from the little I've watched and after reading an interview with the costume designer of the show John Dunn on Style Blog, I'm quite certain that men's designers are taking notes while enjoying the show and it's just a meter of time before Boardwalk Empire will make its mark as an inspiring trend for next season's fashion shows!
"Nucky"
The amount of craftsmanship and details that's been pored into styling the guys on the show are incredible and can by themselves hold a reason to watch the show. Everything from the rich woolen fabrics (which apparently some were specifically manufactured for the show) through the immaculate tailoring (all done by Martin Greenfield ) and all the way to the small details such as the collar bars (Nucky's was specifically designed for him), the color stories and how they all work so well together in a every look, will make you drull!
Great deal was also put into the different cities that are being represented in the show and thier difrenet styles, the Atlantic City men are flashy, colorful and daring in their wardrobe choices where New York city guys are more elegant and seriuos while the Chicago crew carry more of a European/Italian influences in their style. Even the working guys who are clearly not in a high financial or social status are inspiring, their clothes might not be as luxurious but over all they are very well put together.

My style journal - week twelve - Trench Coat

This look is a mix of items i have been blogging about for these last few months. A couple of weeks ago i had a post about the Trench coat, and how to incorporate it into your wardrobe. My trench coat is a casual cotton trench with contrast top stitching and buttons, but since i don't wear suits in my daily life it works perfect for me. I added suspenders which i have posted about last week, and just had them hanging down my hips as an accessory to add a bit of a militant touch... and yes i know most gentlemen will probably not approve of the way I'm using the suspenders ....but, oh well this blog is all about personal style, right???
I love this gingham military style shirt, it's one of my favorite shirts that i have made so far, the fit is amazing, its slim but very comfortable, and the details like the long tabs in the back of the sleeve or the tab+button in the back collar or even the red buttonholes on the cuffs are subtle but still stand out just enough to make it unique.
The black corduroy vest added a fall season touch and made it more interesting when i took off the coat...The jeans are skinny in dark blue and i liked that they are bunched up it supported the militant/roughness feel of the look.
This week I'm wearing:
Trench coat - Report Collection
Corduroy vest - BOAZ
Purple gingham shirt - BOAZ
Dark jeans - Levis
Boots - Paul Smith
Suspenders - Gillmons

Gingham shirt - A must have for spring

After the spring decided to take a break from us last week, it's back and I can now get into SPRING MODE once again!..... next to check on my spring wardrobe's list is....a GINGHAM shirt! Gingham is a classic pattern that looks like plaid and universally recognizable, although.... not always in clothing. You all saw it before as the table cloth in your favorite little Italian restaurant or used it as the romantic mode setter cloth in a picnic.... like the one you planed for you and your sweetheart on your second date....I always liked the look of gingham  and actually today while browsing at Mood for some fabric findings i found this navy and cream canvas fabric that soon enough will form into a nice summer pants....I'll post it up once its done.....In the meantime i made this purple gingham shirt on top to cover my spring cravings.....
Generally gingham associated with a masculine, casual look such as in western shirts, or as the shirts Mods (British teenagers in the 1960s) wore (like the Ben Sherman shirt below), but if used right gingham can also add depth and sophistication to your wardrobe. The gingham shirting fabric is very comfortable to wear and due to the way its weaved is generally easy to clean (also because of the pattern being busy little spots are not as noticeable).
Gingham shirts are fun...whatever your personal style is, you can find a gingham shirt to match it! The variety of colors and pattern sizes are wide and you can be as adventures or conservative as your heart desires.  As always keep in mind that

My Style Journal - week seven...The new suit!

First i would like to apologize for the lack of writing in the last few weeks. It was a very busy time for me at work and i just couldn't find the time to write...the good news are that I'm back and hopefully stronger and better!
This week's my style journal presents an outfit that is probably the last time i can wear this season before storing it until next fall. As i mentioned in my last post about the importance of the vest (which i was very glad to hear that have inspired quite a lot of you out there....), i love the combo of pant and vest, what i call....

The power of the vest!

The vest (or the waistcoat as its being referred to in the UK) is the single, most versatile and smartest clothing item a guy can have. Mostly known for its role as the unappreciated member of the three-piece suit family, the vest made a move and over the years declared its independence, separated from it's family and developed its own life. Adding grandeur and sophistication to almost any outfit, from making the casual jeans and T look stylish and unique or when paired with a suit adding sharpness and a twist making it dressier and even more powerful.
For me it all started with my father (RIP). He loved three-piece suits and had a few custom made for him. One in particular, a gray wool pinstriped was my absolute favorite. I had been eying it for a while when sometime in my early 20's the suit got too small for him and I inherited it....the jacket was too big, the pants needed to be taking in but the vest....well, the vest was

New York fashion week - Fall 2010-2011

New York fashion week proved once again its power as the capital of the sophisticated casual sportswear....... showing straight forward, commercial and wearable clothes!
The general inspiration board includes British tailoring influenced by 50's flair (someone said Mad man???), worn by a hipster from Williamsburg (Brooklyn), who caught in a moody day wearing Doc Martens-like lace-ups boots (with the pants tucked in), and sporting a pompadour hairstyle a la Morrissey. The color palette was mostly dark in basic shades of black, gray and earth tones...
Standout items included overcoats (were the highlights of almost every designer) and vests.

My style journal - week five

I know i have been slacking a bit on my style journal in the last couple of weeks...sorry, i was a bit busy.
This week the look is - Bohemian cool! These last couple of years vests became a favorite item in my wardrobe, and for every pant that i made my self lately i made a vest to go with...its a cool concept!.... They can than be worn together or separately. When worn together i can dress it up with a dress shirt tucked in and a tie (I went to few weddings dress up like that), or I can dress it down to look easy and cool by adding a funky button down shirt and leave it untucked (like in the photo below). I like the shirt showing under the vest, it breaks the line of the pant+vest and makes it less formal and more fun and approachable.....
check out the details on this shirt i have on (click on the photo to enlarge), the directions of the stripes adding fun to a classic shirting fabric....I love this shirt!
And how about these shoes.....ha?

This week I'm wearing:
Black corduroy Vest + Pant - Boaz
Stripe shirt - Boaz
Shoes - Juno New York

My style Journal - Week one

Ever since I can remember I loved clothes and enjoyed dressing. Eventually, this led me to a career as a fashion designer. Over the years I developed my own individual style. To describe it in words will not do it any justice since, literary descriptions are not my strongest skill (and here I am writing a blog and expecting you to read it, ha?). But since my goal in creating this blog is to inspire you to discover and develop your own sense of style and create your own unique voice I feel that the best way is to lead by example. Therefore I was looking for a creative way to communicate my style to you (after all, I will first need to gain your trust in my credibility before I can suggest and advice you). Well, unfortunately the idea I came up with is not as creative as I hoped for but it’s definitely one that will get my point across and hopefully will inspire you the same way others out there inspire me. So today I am starting my style Journal where i will post a weekly photo with my favorite outfit of the week for your review….. I highly encourage you to leave your feedback and would love to hear your thoughts and input …whether it's good or bad! Cause recognizing what you like and what not is the first step in building your new wardrobe, I hope you’ll enjoy it and hopefully together we will inspire others…..

Black corduroy vest - BOAZ
Pinstriped cotton shirt - BOAZ
