Milan Menswear Fall 2011 - Neil Barrett

For fall 2011 Neil Barret fused once again his two favorite themes of classical tailoring and directional technology! His strong and clear message showed the two themes in a very distinctive way - the bottoms were neoprene leggings scuba style and the top halves were sharply tailored military coats ... which were my absolute favorite.....The collection (as always in his fall offerings) kept true to his dark color palate with different shades of gray merged together beautifully on each piece, looking elegant yet sexy and clever! ...after all he is the king of minimalism....

Milan Menswear Fall 2011 - John Varvatos

For fall 2011 John Varvatos sent his rock star, vintage inspired man traveling. Walking into a runway made of train tracks his models demonstrated the art of layering.... hairy knits, vests with raw edges, ragged jackets and beat up coats were all layered tastefully while still looking natural and effortless. A general color palate of grays and blacks was supported by sparks of navy, eggplant and army shades that added mystery and sophistication to this 21st century vagabond look! Often accessorized with skinny scarves or looser ties worn over wool pants with a signature front left pocket that were tacked nonchalantly into the boots....
I'm a sucker for the rock and roll look .....especially when its offered in a smart luxurious way such as here.

Milan Menswear Fall 2011 - Dolce & Gabbana

Brian ferry was style icon of the week on this blog a couple of months ago praised for his legendary glamorous style.... and yesterday in Milan Dolce & Gabbana had him as the mood setter of their runway show with his record covers all over the mood board, his music playing all over the show, his face on the seasonal "icon" T-shirt and off-course the legend himself seating front-row center. As for the clothes D&G offered the younger audience a re-tailoring of the classic! Low-rise, multi-pocketed pants with punk like skinny suspenders and chunky shoes, gray suits with cropped double breasted jackets, awesome button down shirts detailing (considering my love for button down shirts those were my favorite) and off course....denim pants. The show ended with a dressier touch of velvet suits and sequined jackets a la Brian Ferry!

Milan Menswear Fall 2011 - Burberry Prorsum

I was actually watching this show live on TheAbsoluteman...Thank you guys, i think you can still watch it if you are interested.
Christopher Bailey sent a very colorful message for next fall! According to him his intention was purely to celebrate the coat in this collection and he did an AWESOME job doing it, sending out a coat after coat in vibrant colors or bold check patterns with a strong 60's inspiration. There were tailored single or double breasted wool car coats, an awesome down puffy yellow coat, colorful rain coats. herringbone tailored coats with fur collars and shearling coats indeed a coat celebration! I personally liked the more tailored fitted coats rather than the 60's like, boxier coat silhouettes although i will admit the colors are a big standout...hmm it might be my time for colored coat...

Milan Menswear Fall 2011 - Costume National

Milan menswear fashion week is on and I'll try and give you a taste of it ...as much as i can .....
We start with Costume National. As always the color palate at CN is dominated by the dark colors with lots of black, and dark grays and a touch of mustard electric blue. Great motor cycle jackets in wools and beautiful long coats mixing wools and leather were among my favorite pieces supported by light knits in two color tones that looked luxurious and very sophisticated.

The impact of global economy showed its signs and had most designers go back to their roots and signature looks showing them in a relevant and updated ways.
