Paris Menswear Fall 2011 - Lanvin

I will admit Lanvin's men's line is growing on me! And this time around the fall 2011 collection is without a doubt one of the best.  A return to Elegance and a mix of technical sportswear and sartorial traditions is a motif we have seen all around this season but Lanvin's execution was one the better ones. From rich fabrics flowing in wide leg pants (yes, Bowie's 70's look touched their inspiration board as well) under double breasted jackets to tailored coats military inspired but modernly tweaked with magnet closures instead of buttons, cool bomber jackets and even some clean technical sweaters the Lanvin men have a lot to look forward to in next fall. Lucas Ossendrijver (don't ask me to pronounce his name cause i wouldn't even know where to start...) the men's division designer and Alber Elbaz (who makes me proud to be an Israeli especially since he studied in the same fashion school as me just few years earlier...) Lanvin's creative director offered easy to layer classic pieces that looked new and fresh and would support any man's wardrobe or style, edgy but not over the top so you can still feel comfortable and look natural wearing them and that simplicity and sophistication are the true signs of genius....oh... and not a word about having the shirts worn over turtlenecks....

Paris Menswear Fall 2011 - Dries van Noten

Milan fashion week was concluded and we moved to Paris (what a life, ha???).
As always the designers who show in Paris are more daring, pushing the envelope a little more than the ones in Milan, so although i highly appreciate the creativity and fun and that most of these designers have in thier shows...they direct their focus more towards the show rather than functionality, but since i try to keep this blog realistically for guys to be inspired rather than scared away i decided to skip the likes of Gaultier, Mugler and Rick Owens and try to concentrate on those who can truly inspire the average guy....
The first collection from Paris that I'd like to share with you is the Fall 2011 from Dries Van Noten. Taking on the persona of one of my favorite style icons and without a doubt one of the most influential performers of  our time David Bowie the Belgian designer sent out a collection that highlighted once again his talent in tailoring and his sophisticated color sense, this time around with silhouettes that resembled  Bowie's wardrobe from his '76 tour of Station to Station of peak-shouldered, double-breasted jackets and full pleated pants, supported by elegantly, very well constructed military inspired coats with contrasting shades and fur lapels... merging so beautifully the 70's era with our century!

Paris fashion week - Autumn/Winter 2010-2011

Well....in a short delay of few days here are my top favorite looks from last week's Paris fashion week. The mood here was again of designers showing and doing what they do best. The general look was more tailored with a technical futuristic chic, more like a sophisticated sportswear which made the clothes very practical and wearable (fall orders were boost up to 15% according to WWD). The Key look was the tailored pants tucked into military/workwear lace up boots that almost every collection had a variation of those....

My favorite collection was Lanvin - lead by the Israeli born designer Alber Elbaz and men's designer for Lanvin Lucas Ossendrijver, this collection had a tech touch to very wearable silhouettes with exquisite attention to detail and finishing – The new Matrix wardrobe!

You can always count on Paul smith for tailored twisted classic looks and COLORS!

and count on Raf Simons to always push it....

Not many knitwear as we saw in Milan but the Raf Simmons one with a sophistication to perfection... and the detailed scarf and sweater from Jean Paul Gaultier's boxer are enough for me...

Variations of the trench coat.....Dries van Noten, Tim Hamilton, Jean Paul Gaultier

Patch your jackets up!.... Luis Vuitton, Raf Simmons

Now all that is left is to wait......for next year!!!
