Short sleeves or rolled up sleeves?
In a couple of weeks I'm going to visit my family in Israel and as a gift I'm making my brother a couple of Boaz shirts that he loves so much. But when I told him he asked if this time i can make him a shirt or two with short sleeves? which lead to a discussion on the matter of short sleeves vs rolled sleeves???Me: No, I don't want to make you short sleeves"
"Why not? its way to hot hear to wear long sleeves..."
"I'll make the shirts in light fabrics and you can just roll up the sleeves... it looks much better anyway..."
"Boaz common, do it for me..."
"Danny, I'm not and here is why: ...."
Fit and Style - For short sleeves to look flattering and stylish they should be fitted and not longer than the center of your biceps....which are both details that are hard to find, unless you have your shirt custom made or have your tailor alter the sleeves for you.... even than they don't look good on everyone and you really need to have the body and arms to make them look good, where rolled up sleeves work everyone and will add a masculine touch. When wearing a suit or a jacket although it fine to wear shirt sleeves under the detail of having your shirt sleeves longer than the jacket sleeves (about 1/2") is a detail that balances the total look and colors in your outfit (especially when wearing a dark suit and a light colored shirt).
Seasonal - realistically you'll wear a Short sleeve shirt for about 2 months out of a year...is it really

What is Egyptian cotton?
Are you facing the same above question every time you are buying a cotton product like shirts, bed sheets or towels? Do you find yourself wondering WHY are the Egyptian cotton products more expensive? is it worth the investment? These are all valid questions and hopefully the information below will clarify and help you make the right decision.
Why the name?
Egyptian cotton comes from where its name suggests - Egypt. The humid conditions and rich soil in Egypt along the Nile River Valley create the perfect conditions to grow long cotton fibers (also known as staples) which are used in Egyptian cotton fabrics.
What is Egyptian Cotton?
Egyptian cotton is extra long staple mostly made from a cotton plant called Gossypium barbadense or from Gossypium hirsutum, both native to America. It was believed to be derived from sea island cotton or by hybridization with Peruvian cotton. These plants were introduced to Egypt in the nineteenth century by Egypt’s ruler, Mohammed Ali Pasha, who developed them as a cash crop to support his army. The plant is tropical and grows as a small, bushy tree requiring high humidity and rainfall. It contains the chemical gossypol, reducing its susceptibility to insect and fungal damage.
Egyptian cotton has longer fibers then regular cotton (about twice the size) and can range from 1 1/2 inches to 2 1/4 inches. Their long length allows them to be spun into very fine yarns. These yarns are soft and lustrous yet are very strong and durable.

How many ways can you wear a shirt???
Have you ever had one of these days where you had to be in 4 different
places throughout the day and needed a different style for each one of
them??? So you get up in the morning and contemplating what to wear
(while beating yourself up for not scheduling your day better)… should
you wear one outfit throughout the day and take the risk that you might
show up not dressed right for all the occasions?…which might cost you in
losing business….or should you just carry an extra bag with you all day
with some extra clothes to change???
Well, I’ll admit that I still have days like that, and so has some of my private clients (after all that’s the life of an entrepreneur, right?)….as someone once told me, designing is solving a problem, so i did! What if you had one shirt that will easily transform your look into few different styles and taking you from day to night, all while looking good, feeling natural, fresh and comfortable (did anyone say FIT)???
The BOAZ European style shirt has sleeve cuffs that can be buttoned in 3 different ways: as a classic regular cuff, as semi french cuff or buttoned (with cufflinks) while the sleeves are rolled up to hold the folded sleeve, along side other collar and back details that will sport a conservative business look or a night out with the guys....

Findings - Raf Simmons Ribbon Detail button down shirt
Shirt sleeve shirt from Raf Simmons on Forward
WHY: The dilemma - summer is out its hot but you still want/need to wear a nice button down shirt for work/pleasure or even under a suit.
The problem - There are not too many short sleeves button downs that look good, mostly because of the way the sleeves fit. Most brands make the sleeves either too wide or too long or both.
Do you wear short sleeves button downs? Answer the question on my Facebook page.
Possible solution - This shirt from Raf Simmons looks right, the sleeve length seem to hit a good spot and since the shirt has a slim fitted body the armholes are high and that results in the sleeves being narrower and fitted where even someone who haven't hit the gym for a while will look like he just finished a work out.
From a design perspective its quite a cool shirt, contemporary narrow collar, slim fit body and a contrast trim that will make you stand out. (and as you can tell from my shirt line i like slim fitted shirts with contrast trim). Although i would say that the trim in the hem could have been skipped in order to make this shirt more commercial and useful. It would have allowed to tuck the shirt in if needed, and also since the hem is straight depends on your body length it might cut you in a wrong spot and the contrast ribbon will than draw more attention to your hips. Obviously this shirt is meant to be worn untucked, and i think it will also look really cool with a dressy type shorts like these one form Raf Simmons..... and i wouldn't role out a thin tie especially with white shirt version....
INFO: 100% cotton, Made in Italy, Button front closure, Contrast fabric detail.
PRICE: $348.00

Findings - Yves Saint Laurent Shirt
Yves Saint Laurent shirt at Colette
WHY: I really like when a button down shirt has some design detail on the collar of a classic button down shirt(as you can tell from my own shirt line- www.boazny.com) and this one here is awesome! I also really like the combination of the thin Lt.blue stripes and the white, it works very well together. The white combo detail on the collar and pocket add a sophistication and flare that you can only get with a designer product, these details will make you stand out in a cool yet subtle way just enough to show a little of your individuality and a lot of your style!
INFO: Strange enough there is no info about this shirt...but I'm assuming it is 100% cotton, and the fir looks as if it on the slimmer side
PRICE: $313.13 or €275.00

Spring 2011 Must have - Military shirt
![]() |
| BOAZ small gingham military shirt |
In its behalf i will say that it's a very masculine style and a great complimentary for a man's body type! The militant details like the epaulets or the front flap pockets are ones that always look good and add to it the fact that the runway shows have strongly adapted the militant inspiration, and you got yourself a winner for these up and coming hot days!
As always for me the most important part to look for in a shirt is the fit! if the shirt is big and loose than all these above masculine details will make you look like a potato bag rather than A man of style! and we obviously dont want that to happen...Go for a slim fit style or just get a smaller size, let the body of the shirt snug and hug your body and look for a higher armhole so the sleeves will not be too baggy....the fitted shoulders will enhance the impact of the epaulets adding power to your style, so when you roll up your sleeves all this hard work at the gym will pay off...check out our BOAZ shirts for a great fit!

Unless you have a fitted athletic body no need to to tack the shirt it, especially if what you'd like to put out there is a younger, cooler feel. At times a tie can be a fun addition which in that case go for a solid color shirt and a casual, cotton, fun tie.....nothing too serious and no silk please!
A military shirt will go great with jeans, or chino and depends on the style could pair with trousers as well.
One last tip - i would stay away from short sleeves and much rather roll up the sleeves...unless young and stylish is not your thing!
